Hailing from the Bay Area, California, I am a full-time mom and part-time author of fantasy short stories and novels.
My work injects magic into the mundane and turns natural phenomena into sources of extraordinary power. I find my greatest inspiration in the spooky, bizarre, and inexplicable parts of the human experience — the cycles and phases of our bodies, connection and dissonance with the natural world, the prickling of instincts we don’t quite comprehend, and the ne’er fully reliable nature of dream, memory, and perception.
I explore themes of dubious heroism, uncertain alliances, strangers in a strange place, crises of faith and conscience, and strength forged by community. The villains are misrepresented and the heroes are suspect.
When not inventing quests and conundrums for fantastical characters, I enjoy playing make-believe games with my kids, taking them on adventures, and volunteering at the local school leading art projects and teaching art history fundamentals.
